Day 1: Marrakech – High Atlas Mountians – Ait ben haddou – Ouarzazate – Skoura – Boumalne Dades
We begin our expedition from Marrakech towards Ouarzazate through the impressive High Atlas Mountains. This route, embellished with panoramas and winding roads, unfolds like a tapestry of natural splendors. As we climb the passes, each turn reveals a new tableau of craggy peaks and verdant valleys. Inviting us to pause and savor the grandeur of the landscape. Then we will visit the Ait ben haddou kasbah. A UNESCO World Heritage Site.
After lunch we explore the Cinema Studios in Ouarzazate. And we stop in front of the famous Taourirte kasbah to take beautiful photos. From there our journey will continue towards Skoura to visit another kasbah in southern Morocco.
Then we drive to Boumalne Dadès, a haven of peace nestled in the middle of the enchanting landscapes of the Dades valley. Here, amid a harmonious blend of towering cliffs, lush oases and meandering rivers, we find solace and serenity. It is a place where time seems to have stood still, allowing us to fully immerse ourselves in the beauty of nature. As the day draws to a close, we remember the deep connection between humanity and the natural world. And we look forward to the adventures that await us in the days to come. Day 2: Boumalne Dades – Todra Gorges – the Sahara desert of Merzouga
Our expedition resumes from Boumalne Dadès, eager to explore the wonders that await us. Our path takes us through the impressive Todra Gorge, where the grandeur of nature is on full display. Towering cliffs rise dramatically on either side. Forming a narrow canyon that beckons adventurers to venture out and discover its hidden treasures. As we navigate through this natural wonder, the scale of the landscape leaves us speechless. Reminding us of the power and beauty of the natural world. We then explore the oases of Tinjdad and Touroug to arrive at Erfoud, where we will visit the fossils. We then continue towards the Mezouga desert.
Continuing our journey, we delve deeper into the heart of the Sahara Desert. Where the landscape transforms into an otherworldly realm of endless stretches of golden sand stretching as far as the eye can see. Ride a camel, our destination is the desert camp near Merzouga. Where we will spend the night immersed in the serenity of the desert. Beneath the vast expanse of the desert sky, adorned with a myriad of stars. We will find comfort in the tranquility of our surroundings, lulled by the gentle whispers of the desert wind. Berber dinner and night in nomadic tents.
Day 3: Tour Around Merzouga desert with nomad families and Gnaoua music
The third day invites us to embark on an exploration of the Merzouga desert. A land steeped in history and tradition. Today we delve into the rich culture and heritage of the nomadic Berber tribes who have thrived in this harsh but enchanting landscape for generations. Our journey takes us into the heart of the desert. Where we will have the privilege of meeting nomadic families and gaining an intimate insight into their way of life. Their warm hospitality welcomes us. Offering us a glimpse of the timeless traditions and customs that have sustained them in this unforgiving environment.
In the evening we will have a Gnaoua music show that will fill the air. This unique blend of African and Berber melodies reverberates across the desert sands. Weaving a tapestry of sound that enriches the soul. Under the starry sky, surrounded by the ancient sands of the Sahara. Will be the best memories of our trip from Marrakech to Fes. Day 4: Merzouga Sahara desert – Rissani – Ziz Valley – Midelt – Azrou – Ifrane – Fes
We are venturing towards new horizons. Our first stop is Rissani, a historic town steeped in tradition and culture, where we can soak up the vibrant atmosphere of its bustling markets and ancient monuments. Continuing, we pass through the picturesque Ziz Valley, where verdant palm groves and winding riverbanks provide a serene backdrop to our journey.
As we continue our route, we pass through Midelt, a town nestled amid the wild beauty of the Atlas Mountains, known for its apple orchards and alpine views. Our route then takes us to Azrou, a charming Berber town surrounded by dense cedar forests, where we can meet the resident Barbary macaques that inhabit the area. Continuing our route, we arrive at Ifrane known for its European-style architecture and snow-capped peaks, providing a refreshing contrast to the arid landscapes we passed through.
Finally, our day ends in Fez, the cultural heart of Morocco and a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
